Gooseberries / Currant

Currants are small round berries that hang from the shrub in bunches, which is why they are also called cluster berries.
The red, white or black currants are extremely healthy, as they contain many fibres and antioxidants and are rich in vitamins C and K, potassium, phosphorus and folic acid.
Currants can be harvested from the end of June to August, depending on the variety. You can keep the berries uncovered in a dish in the refrigerator for about 3 days.

They are delicious to eat on their own (red currants are somewhat sour, white currants are sweeter), but are also delicious in jam, yoghurt or pie.
